APPLES
– Applied Language Studies

is a new international, refereed electronic journal in applied language studies sponsored by the Centre for Applied Language Studies at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, in collaboration with the Finnish Association of Applied Linguistics.  The journal will appear twice a year, and will include articles  in 

  • theory and methodology in applied linguistics
  • mother-tongue and second/foreign language learning and teaching, inluding information and communication technology
  • language testing and evaluation
  • language policy and planning
  • language in social life
  • applied semiotics
It particularly welcomes manuscripts in new and emerging areas of research.  The first issue will be out in late autumn 2000. The working language of the journal will be English but papers and other contributions can also be published in other languages. APPLES  is published for free on the World Wide Web.  In the future readers will, however, have an option of entering a free subscription. The information about the subscribers will let APPLES demonstrate the amount of support it has.
